Day 5 - Spanish Steps and Castel Sant Angelo....

Day Five
Around every corner in the ancient city of Rome is a new chapter in the story of the evolution of mankind, from the barbarous brutality and inhumanity of the Colosseum to the magnificent aesthetic achievements of the Renaissance, at the hands of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Bernini, Dante, and their many contemporaries.
The scale and magnitude of the artistic legacy of these masters is an inspiration to all of us who have the good fortune to spend time in their presence, and I mean their presence, because their Spirits will forever touch the hearts and souls of all.
Sharing the narrow winding streets of Rome with taxis, mini smart-cars and the continuous stream of vespas, not to mention the jay-walking mass of humanity, calls for much caution and vigilance. As many as fifty thousand visitors stroll in Piazza Narvona every day, viewing the great diversity of Art and hanging out at the sidewalk cafes.
Miles and miles of walking took us to the Spanish Steps and Castel Sant' Angelo, and the Leonardo da Vinci Museum, which was quite inspiring. Would you believe we haven't yet used transportation of any kind, just good old foot-slogging "Oouuuccchhh".
